Fulfilling a Dream

I am 63 years old and live with my family just north of Kingston Ontario. I have been making hand made soaps since 2000 in my home. It is a nice feeling to be able to pamper my family and friends with this creation.

As far back as I can remember I was always attracted to soaps. I enjoyed purchasing those beautiful smelling soaps from the sales lady that passed by the house. And for a while I became one of those sales ladies so I could have better access to those delightful smelling squares of suds. I tried to ignore the scum they created on the bath water and the side of the tub if I wasn’t using cistern water. And I tried to ignore the tight feeling they let on my skin as well. I guess I wasn’t into the science of natural things back then.

One birthday as a gift my friend gave me a book on all the nice cosmetic things I could make from the herbs I grew in my garden. One chapter was on how to make soap. That did it. I was hooked again. This time I knew where I was headed. I wanted a soap that was all natural, lathered well, didn’t scrum up the tub and didn’t dry out my skin. After reading several books, and trial and error I have attained that goal.

I now hand make a bar of soap that can be used for hands, tub or shower, face, shaving or shampooing. The soap is fragranced with essential oils or not fragranced at all. It is among the highest quality soaps available on the market today.
