My Art:

In true Folk Art fashion I use materials in my work that are close at hand and unique to my particular surroundings. For the past ten years my surroundings have been the Century old barns and workshop of an Antique Architectural Salvage business called Balleycanoe and Company. It is there that I learned to appreciate the wonderful form, texture, colour and function of materials that were once part of a living, breathing house. In my desire to keep these pieces alive I began to create my unique works of “Architectural Folk Art”.

The media is wide-ranging but all recycled from antique salvage that can no longer be used for its original purpose and would most likely end up in a landfill. For example: wooden door trim, ceiling tin, copper lightning rod cable, weathered barn board, old window shutters, stair spindles, a section of fencing and vintage hardware. These “as found” objects provide endless creative possibilities for that truly unique piece of decorative and functional Art for home and garden.
