I admire Alex Colville whose compositions are structured around complex geometrical relationships to create extraordinary moods. I also admire Seurat’s work which used geometrical constructs and divisionism for atmosphere and electricity. While not following pointillism or impressionism explicitly, I like to “sculpt” figures with the strokes’ values to give them volume. With this as a departure point, my interest is to develop and explore my own vision of “what life is like” supported by mathematical constructs and atmospheric color theory. |
