19th C. Architectural Salvage TIA Founding Member Balleycanoe & Co. 150 Rockfield Rd. RR4 Mallorytown Ontario K0E 1R0 613-659-3874 Website Send email From my extensive collection of 19th C. rural architectural salvage, materials in wood, metal, glass, etc. are chosen for their special qualities. Values such as form, color, surface texture, historical context, and function are considered. Imagination and creative use is encouraged by continually challenging myself to “think outside the door”. I have been inspired by the historical reuse of architectural elements over the past centuries. From the Greek Parthenon to present day we are surrounded by countless examples of this impulse to reuse and recycle. We do this for both practical and aesthetic reasons. My goals are to: integrate our artistic and practical needs; to encourage the restoration, preservation, and conservation of our architectural heritage; to promote the integration of environmental and artistic values; and to stimulate the creative response by example in display and interaction with the public. |
